A great big THANK YOU to all of our sponsors for supporting the 22nd Annual Schuss Boomer Downhill on Saturday, April 8. It was another successful year, with 60 racers and a full house for the dinner and dance.

With Central Mountain Air donating 7 round trip tickets for 2 and the very generous support of you, our community and local businesses, we were able to raise over $3800.00 for the Smithers Alpine Ski Club.

This event has become a legendary local gathering attracting crowds every year. The Schuss Boomer is run by volunteers and 100% of the proceeds go back to the Smithers Alpine Ski Club. This year we saw more families and young racers, which encourage the continued development of our Alpine Racing program and a renewed interest in the sport of skiing.

The Schuss Boomer Downhill Race is the second longest running downhill in North America! We hope to continue this wonderful event, were everyone wins, at least through its 25th anniversary and with your support this will be possible.

For next year we are already working hard to attract other alpine racing teams and more fun racers from around the area and province. We are also encouraging more media coverage, bigger crowds, and just as much fun or more to be had by all next year. It is hoped that your support will continue with the Schuss Boomer Downhill and its legacy of supporting the growth and development of the Smithers Alpine Ski Club.
