The Smithers Ski Club is working hard to host the upcoming 2006 Ski and Ride Smithers Schuss Boomer Downhill race. The date is set for April 8, 2006.

The fun race occurs on Saturday. It consists of teams of three (3) dressed up in costume and individual racers. Each team picks an estimated time and the closest “combined guessed time” for the team wins. Also occurring on Saturday is a “Corporate Charity Challenge” where local companies challenge each other by contributing an additional $50/team fee into a corporate pot. The corporate team that comes closest to their guess time wins the pot and donates it to the charity of their choice. Also on Saturday this year, individuals with the need-for-speed compete to be the fastest on the mountain. There is an entry fee for the races which covers the cost of an annual Schuss Boomer souvenir shirt. Come out and join us for the festivities.

This annual event must rely on our valued local businesses to ensure a successful fundraiser for the Ski Club.

Smithers Ski Club is a registered non-profit society. The Schuss Boomer Downhill, which is completely run by volunteers, has generated profits between $500 – $1,600 in the past (not including the charity pot mentioned above). Any profits are used by the club to support the Nancy Greene and Juvenile Alpine Racing programs. Nancy Greene is an introductory ski program that promotes a safe, fun and interactive environment for children under the age of 12. The Juvenile Alpine Racing program allows athletes to further develop their skills to the provincial level and beyond.

At this time we would very much like your company to consider providing a prize of your choice for this event --> the more the merrier!! Your business will be announced (as many times as possible) during the prize and awards event.
